Birthday plans?
So, my birthday is coming up this Friday, and it’s kind of a big one (can you guess?). For the occasion, my mother is giving me a sum of money with which to take a short break…But unfortunately, Hamza and I can’t decide where to go. We’ve picked two possibilities, but will you help us decide between them?

Lovely beach town Asilah, where we vacationed last June:
+ The weather is warm, I’ve been working out and my skin is translucent
- It’s quite far away, we only have two or three days.
or…

Beautiful Fez
+ If we go there, we plan to go back to NausiKaa spa for a massage and hammam visit, and it’s close so we’ll most likely just drive home for the night.
- Because it’s so close, it won’t really feel like a vacation.

Asilah!
I love Asilah! Its so quiet yet busy. And the medina is so beautiful and small. Especially in the summer when you have that arts-festival when they paint all over the walls and stuff.
I say Asilah!
(euhm btw, I kind of changed my blog-address. Its http://maghrebism.com now)

Yes but if you stay in one of the posh riads in the Medina it would seem like a vacation. I vote for Fez. I love Fez.
Or you can come here to Rabat, we have the Atlantic.
What about going to Marrakesh and hiring a car for an excursion outside the city and in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.
Let us know the result. Have fun whereever you go.

I’d go to Asilah, since it sounds like you go to Fez a lot already. Or, have you ever been to the dunes down in Merzouga? I think they’re about as far away as Asilah if you’re driving from Meknes. Happy birthday and have fun!

Thanks for all the suggestions! We go to Rabat constantly, and Marrakesh and Merzouga are a bit too far (Asilah’s about 4 hours, Marrakech and Merzouga closer to ten!)

I think you may have forgotten the vacation paradise that is Midelt.
i vote for Fez.

Happy 21st Taamar! Okay maybe not your 21st …
As much as I enjoy Fes, you live in a landlocked town, so why visit another landlocked town? Go to Asilah and appreciate the wide open space of the ocean, the refreshing coastal breezes, walks along the beach, the intimate medina. A day trip to Fes can be saved for any other day, make this birdthday an adventure by the sea!
