Morocco, Polisario to begin talks

Filed under: Maghreb Issues, Sahara — taamarbuuta @ 2:52 pm

Talks are slated to begin on June 18 between Morocco and the Polisario over the Western Sahara Autonomy Plan.

Personally, I just want them to come to some sort of agreement that stops the violence and allows them to stop fighting like little girls, but can we expect either side to ever let that happen?

I hope they come to a solution that stops Morocco’s latest human rights abuses in the territory, and gets the Sahrawis in Algeria back into Western Sahara and away from Algeria and Polisario’s unsavory clutches.

If only Morocco would return the referendum.

  7. xoussef Says:

oh why people don’t get that a referendum is impossible?!

  8. alle Says:

xoussef — because it’s not? the voter rolls have been completed since 1999, and the referendum could be held in a couple of months if the moroccan government would just agree to it.
