The American Foundouk of Fez
Long Way Home recently posted about the American Foundouk, something I had heard of but up until seeing the website had thought of as myth.
Started in 1927, the Foundouk, which is located in Fez, Morocco, provides charitable veterinary care to a wide range of animals. They treat 50 to 100 animals each day, all for free.
Donations can be made online via the website, or by check sent to:

That’s a very big donkey. Or a very small gas seller?

There was something like this in Tanger in the sixties; perhaps it would be feasible to take this concept to other cities.

The Fonduk Americain is a great place, although most Fassis will laugh when they point it out to you - as if the idea of an animal hospital is hilarious. However, they spay and neuter pets for FREE. They didn’t in the past, but they do now and you just donate money if you are able. Also, when my cat suffered from a botched spaying job six years ago by a farm vet, the fonduk treated her for free. Some of the large animals I saw there were suffering horribly, too, unfortunate victims of overwork due to poverty
