Moroccan Religious Coexistence
A far more positive article (than the one about the dates) on the coexistence between Moroccan Muslims and Jews is here.
They even managed to find an anti-Zionist Communist Jew to quote!

Thanks for the link
as for the anti-zionist communist jew I guess he was not that difficult to find, Serfaty is the most well known jew in morocco :))
I’ve always been amazed, whenever I meet a moroccan jew here in Montreal (and there are a lot of them), by their reaction when they know that I am moroccan, there is always something to say, some memories to share, questions to ask and that nostalgia they show… yes they love Mohamed V, some have lost contact with morocco but it is still in their heart, some, as said in the article, go there every year and they have just the same vision we do about it
we are so similar in so many different ways, living together shouldn’t be that difficult…

There’s been quite a few anti-zionist Jews to quote in Morocco - besides Assidon, Serfaty and Simon Lévy, they could also have mentioned the writer Edmond Amran El Maleh, the late communist militant. They failed to mention btw that Assidon was until recently part of the Comité de soutien à la lutte du peuple palestinien.
Another anti- or post-zionist Moroccan is fimd director Simone Bitton, but she doesn’t live in Morocco any longer, and former political prisoner Raymond Benhaïm. Not to forget the progressive Moroccan Jews which denounced Israel’s war of agression in 1967 - they were isolated within their community, and I’m afraid that the Moroccan public opinion at large had trouble distinguishing zionists and Jews…

Zionism is definitely not Judaism, if only because NOT all Jews are Zionists NOR are all Zionists Jews… And yes (unfortunately) not many Moroccans make this crucial distinction: the same applies on Americans and it’s seldom explained within the Jewish community itself…
